The Master of Science program in Industrial Engineering emphasizes research, as well as course work, and the graduate degree is intended to prepare students for the professional practice of Industrial Engineering.
The (MSIE) program is operated by the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) in the College of Engineering. The MSIE program allows specialization in any of three areas: Human Factors/Ergonomics, Integrated Manufacturing, and Operations Research/Systems Engineering. The graduate faculty in the department are actively engaged in research activities in the areas of human-computer interaction (HCI), occupational bio-mechanics, queuing modeling, concurrent engineering, applied AI/Expert systems, manufacturing systems design, computer simulation, production planning and control, knowledge derivation, and quality engineering.
The department operates various laboratories, each equipped with up-to-date teaching and research facilities. The Industrial Information Systems and the Computer Simulation Modeling Laboratories are equipped with an array of networked microcomputers which are loaded with OR, simulation, database, statistics, and other modeling software packages.
The department has a center to foster industry partnerships and basic and applied research: Engineering Manufacturing Center
